Welcome to Baltimore

Baltimore - city of 200 neighborhoods. City of festivals. Maymart (?) the first festival of the year. The last festival of the year is the book festival. Both happen in Mt. Vernon, the neighborhood we are in. 125K to 1.5 million. The Mt. Vernon neighborhood is home to a lot of foundations as well. It's a registered historic district. In the 1800's became a neighborhood of wealthy people where the wealthy lived on the main streets like Charles St. and the poor people lived on the alleys.
Deal was brokered on the front porch of a house here for Woodrow Wilson to be the democratic convention nominee in 1912. In 1904 3/4 of Baltimore's downtown burned down in a fire. Most of the architecture, therefore, in downtown is from the early 20th century.
When the monument down the street was built, it was country out here and the monument served as a marker for people coming up from the harbor to know where we are.
Our Theme and Aspirations
Deborah Meehan
Paraphrasing a conversation catalyst from last year, David Dodson, on the why of leadership development. "What if the point of leadership development is cultivating humanities' capacity for justice? What if we operated out of leadership that instills hope instead of fear? Would we be able to usher in peace, better healthcare, education...justice?"
I now ask, What would the world look like if we were all wildly successful in our work?
We invite you to be open to learning, to wonder, to blunder, to have fun, to enrich and to be enriched.
